New equiptment on order – 11/15/2007

Posted By: W3DIO

Today we ordered a new TE Systems 0552g for 6 meters. So we will be running about 375 watts out on 6 meters instead of 100 watts. This will be on the moxon at the top of the mast. The M2 6m square loop will still be 100 watts.

We also recently ordered the Down East Microwave 3456 transverter and Directive Systems 976LY (3456 76 element looper). We are also in the process of acquiring a Toshibha 50 watt amplifier for 3.5ghz.

  1. Update: TE Systems when testing the unit they had in stock and retuning it discovered something was wrong with the pre-amp so they set it aside to work on it. Then they got busy and forgot about my order. I just talked to Dave over there and he is having it shipped out to me within a week. So everything is in order. This is fine not much 6m activity I’m missing out on anyhow.

  2. Update: I called again and the amp has been benched or misplaced again. This is crazy. He is telling me that they will definitely get it out the door by Thursday or else it won’t be out until January cause they are closing up shop for 10 days for the holidays. EEEK!

  3. Update: I am guessing the amp was shipped out Thursday because they finally charged my credit card. It was a little bit more than I expected. I guess the price has gone up. We shall see when the amp shows up. Hopefully it will working properly when it arrives after all this waiting.

  5. We just finally tested this amp on a Size 00 cable. When keyed with max input power of 25 watts and reading 14.06v at the power terminals it only put out 300 watts. We will probably need to do a few tuning adjustments.

  6. Today we just finally received the 3456 transverter. Guess we need to hurry up and mount the antenna and run the coax to get it on the air 😉
