2004 Fall 6m Sprint

6-Meters

We had a good time. We operated from Dave’s (W3DIO) place and just put up a
6 meter PAR Electronics stressed Maxon on a master at about 12 feet off of the
deck. We again used my Kenwood TS-2000X which performed excellently and put out
about 100 watts on 6 meters. We worked 30 QSO’s and 16 grids. After the first hour
and a half, we thought we had worked everyone we were going to work for the evening
but then K1RZ(Dave) came on the air. I think I live way too close to him. The band
seemed to pick up a little bit with some more new people after he joined in the fun.
There was a band opening to the south and southwest. We worked Jack, W3TMZ in
Florida on CW and he was 599. Had a great time at it and the manual rotor worked
pretty well. All I heard was , “Dave— go turn the beam NorthEast”. hi hi. I
was glad to see a good number of people on for the 6 meter contest but it’s a
shame that we have to wait till January now for the next big contest. See you
on the bands!
